Join the School of Arts, Media and Engineering for a game jam about world generation and swamps! Take part in one of two tracks, Beginner and Advanced, and create your own worlds in the engine of your choice. Optionally, take part in the lead-up workshops for more information on art generation and Godot-based design practices!

Game Jam Tracks

Participate in one of our two tracks, beginner and advanced

The Beginner track is for those who are curious about making games, but have not fully taken the plunge into game development yet. Advanced participants will go through the full lock-in game jam experience! Work together to show off your game development prowess and wow the judges.

Beginner Track

Dates and Times:

Friday, April 11th:  
2:00 p.m. - Event orientation workshop
3:00 p.m. - Group formation session
4:00 p.m. - Work session 1 begins
8:00 p.m. - End of work session 1


Saturday, April 12th: 
10:00 a.m. - Work session 2 begins
8:00 p.m. - End of work session 2, compiled projects are due


Sunday, April 13th: 
12:00 p.m. - Judging begins
2:00 p.m. - Winners announced

Pre-Jam Workshops

Are you interested in our game jam and are looking for more experiences and information? Come to our Pre-jam workshops! We are holding sessions on both Friday, February 21st and Friday, February 28th.

Friday, March 28th

10:00 a.m. Art Design Workshop - Blender, 2D Rigging and Animation

Learn how to use the Blender modeling tools to create animations for 2D isometric applications. Start with 3D models, rig them for motions, and create renders that can be used in animation sheets.

11:00 a.m. Godot Workshop - TileMaps and Navigation Agents

Learn how to use isometric TileMaps in Godot! Create maps and then add life to them with Navigation Agents. Create a thriving world of autonomous creatures using code!

Friday, April 4th

10:00 a.m. Art Design Workshop - Isometric TileSets

Learn how to create art assets that can be used for isometric games! With an eye towards the Godot platform, make tile sets that can be used in the upcoming game jam.

11:00 a.m. Godot Workshop - Procedural Generation and State Machines

Learn how to create a world entirely through code! Work with the Godot platform to generate maps using your own parameters and algorithms. Take your world a step further and add State Machines to track how your creation changes when players interact with them.
