Join the AME Esports Lounge for our CS:GOAT Counter Strike tournament. Bring your team or find a new team as you battle your fellow Sun Devils for trophies and gift cards! We will be hosting this event in-person and online to allow everyone to join wherever you are.

Tournament Details

Event Date

The tournament will be held on Saturday, January 27th. We will start play for the day at 10AM. 

Registering

You can join this tournament as a single player, a duo, trio, four stack, or a full team. If you join with less than a full set of five players, we will find additional players to round out your roster. 

This tournament is open to everyone! Your team can be online and in-person at the same time.

Format & Structure

Game Version

Due to custom lobbies not being available in CS2, we will be hosting this tournament on the CS:GO legacy version. We have included instructions below on how to change game versions before and after the tournament.

1. Right click Counter-Strike 2 in your Steam library and select 'Properties'
2. In the properties window, select the Betas tab on the left
3. In the section for 'Beta Participation', click the menu that says 'None' and select 'csgo_legacy'
4. On your next launch Steam will redownload CS:GO.
5. To go back to CS2 after the tournament, follow steps 1&2, then set the beta participation back to none.

Bracket Setup

We will play this tournament as a double elimination bracket. Teams will be randomly seeded onto the bracket after check-in is complete.

Match Procedure

We will have matches run using the following procedures to ensure consistency in setup.

Lobbies

The tournament staff will create and manage game lobbies. We will announce via the tournament Discord server when lobbies are ready and which teams should join. Please regularly check the tournament Discord server to make sure that you do not miss your call time for a match.

Map Picking

We will have both teams participate in the map selection process. We will use the following steps to choose which map a match will be played on:

1. The lower seeded team will pick a map from the pool to ban
2. The higher seeded team will then select a map to ban
3. Teams will alternate ban selections until there are only two maps remaining
4. The higher seeded team gets to choose between the final maps.
5. The lowers seeded team gets to choose which side they will start the game on.

Substitutions

If your team needs a substitute player, the player must already be registered as part of the tournament. If the substitution needs to span multiple matches, please let the tournament staff know.

Score Reporting

In the tournament Discord server, we will have a score reporting channel. Please post the match winner and a screenshot of the post game stats screen in the channel once your match has concluded. We will be giving out stat-based awards, so please include the screenshot with match stats.

Streaming

We will be live streaming this tournament on our Twitch channel (@ame_esports_lounge). If you are participating and would like to take part in the stream commentary between or after matches please let us know.
